RE: The end of the internet is nigh!

I don't own a server anymore. Curmy used to have one, but it was an ancient unix box. Even if I did, I wouldn't have enough access to server connections or electricity. Not these days, anyways.

So I rent one. And I don't have root access. They don't do that any more. All I can do is use the fucking AI bot to make suggestions like "Why don't you guys install these urgent php updates NOW!"

Wallyworld has a $160 USD E3-1280 V3 server which is a little less powerful than the I7 4770! It has 32GB of DDR3 ram and no storage.

It's like over 10 times as powerful as my old Dell T105 running Windows Home Server 2007! If I knew anything about Linux Server Administration and I was an American, I could get one!

If I was smart enough to patch read/write buffer overflows with a memory hole; I would be a Linux God and the name Nowie would be revered for centuries!

If you have a windows server you can boot to BIOS, and from there change the OS to some version of Linux.

That's what curmy did back in the day when his windows computer went to shit. We couldn't afford a new one so I bought him a Linux magazine that included a CD with Linux (I forgot which version) and he updated his computer with that and deleted all the windows crap.

It worked beautifully because it wasn't a hardware error. It was simply one windows file that went to shit ... because windows was still riding on the back of DOS. In those days all you had to do to fuck up somebody's computer was to delete "command.com".

Of course, I never did such a thing.
