Advice For These Troubling Times

If you get fired from your job and they give you a check.... run... do not walk, but RUN to the bank and cash that check. Do NOT deposit it. I learned this the hard way when I was working in San Francisco and NASDAC tanked. When my company failed to get rich in the IPO, or even have an IPO, they fired everybody at once and gave us checks. I got mine and cashed it. I was one of the very few that succeeded in getting the funds. Cash it, do NOT deposit it.

RE: Advice For These Troubling Times

Seriously dood?!?

Here in Oz we get credited with our wages in our banks since the 90s... Heck Aus Gov have transferred our moneycredit since the 80s... My mommy used to get her parenting money from the CES (Commonwealth Employment Service. 80s Centrelink...) and spend it at Coles to buy food, (Coles is an Aus supermarket like Walmart, only 80s Walmart.) The bottle shop for cask wine and to pay her mortgage on our unit! (My mommy was so l33t she tapped the bank of mommy and daddy before it was popular!)

What kind of third world country still uses tree killing anti environmental practices like checks?

Sorry Mrs Elaine! But I had too!

My mom, (a depression era baby), and lots of older folks don't trust banks, and have their social security come in the mail. link

As for me, like Kento I am disabled. I still wrote code for many years, even though I didn't get paid. I got donations here and there, but in the last few years the donations have sorta dried up. I think it's because nobody in the USA has much cash, except for billionaires. The buildings in downtown Atlanta are empty, the hotels are occupied at maybe 30% on a good day. Hell, even the parking lots are empty. Things have changed a great deal. Downtown used to be full, bustling and busy all the time. Not any more.

I can barely walk. I can only stand up for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. So I sit at my desk and try to find things to do to make a few bucks.

Any more questions?

I wasn't being rude. And you obviously do have a bank account because I have donated to you before using paypal. And paypal requires a Bank account.

I'm here in Waynesboro Ga and the situation is the same. I get my SS every month but as far as that keeping up with the prices of things, it gets harder to get by each month.

Yep, it sure does. It's hard to buy food these days. My dinner tonight consisted of two biscuits. And I only eat 1 meal a day lately. Not easy for a diabetic.

Are you really that poor you couldn't afford anything else than 2 biscuits, Elaine?

Not saying it's easy, quite to the contrary but even a can of sardines will provide you with the needed protein and costs next to nothing.... I have had to do with a can of sardines multiple times in my life, I know all about it.

And it's not even that bad, it's good protein and I like fish, I don't know if you do.
